The Metro 3 project in the Brussels-Capital Region

general assembly on October 8, 2025

The Belgian Court of Audit examined the implementation of the Metro 3 project carried out by STIB-MIVB (public transport operator in the Brussels-Capital Region) and Beliris (public construction body in the Brussels-Capital Region). This project, included in the Iris 2 Mobility Plan approved by the Brussels government in 2009, aims to modernise the public transport network by adding a new metro line. The project is based on a feasibility study completed in 2012. The new line, which will be 10.3 kilometres in length on a key route, should connect Evere to Forest. Initially, the project was due to be completed by 2020, with an investment of less than 1 billion euros.
